A touching aspect for me as an automotive photographer- especially while publishing my work on social media and through intricate connections to outlets such as ElevateTM and Strict Standards Streetwear- is the creators I have been delighted to connect with through my general photography and post-production.

Over many years, what has inspired me towards the continuous innovation behind more personalized post-production is the play of others while studying them and learning new methods from a file that articulates random, numerical values. I always strived for a realistic photograph recreation, holding off on getting serious with more artistic flare through Lightroom Presets.

Whereas I became known for my automotive photography among car shows and auto events with my iconic cheap camera back in the day, project car owners from all around still came through with profound appreciation for the coverages provided- I got comfy and settled into post-production through the Sony A300 colourspace.

Unfortunately, as a less-popular camera, I did not want to distribute Lightroom Presets for them to cause tonal discrepancies for users with high-end DSLR cameras, which use a more up-to-date colourspace. While technology moves forward, so does the process and the synchronization of these colourspaces, where typically they work more seamlessly for modern-day cameras. As I left off on creating photographs and visuals with my Sony A300 with the designated Golden Tones, as a perfectionist, I had trouble releasing images that did not come with a synchronized aesthetic.

Shortly after Berlin Klassik 2019, I acquired a new Canon EOS60d when it came time to recalibrate. I had to revise these Lightroom tones accordingly, which has taken some time- but I think we are close to having these ready for purchase! Let this bear not only an update regarding another successful private car photoshoot- but with synchronized tones across two DSLR colourspaces alongside Behn and his modified 2000 Volkswagen Jetta MK4 VR6 in London, Ontario. There is nothing like reviewing some before and afters through my Photoshop workflow, covering more on extensive post-production.

Post-Production in Photography:

I welcome you to Photography Basics!

Post-production is a term that correlates to all stages of production occurring after principal photography or recording. More often than not- professional photographers and videographers collect their clips on their computers or desktops to prepare specific alternations and corrections. If you are hiring a visual artist such as these roles and they do not plan to do any post-production, please approach with skepticism regarding your final products. The two applications I streamline when collecting myself after a photoshoot are Adobe Lightroom to start and Photoshop for the more intricate details.

The two most popular software editing for commercial photographers are:

These are not the only two that will get the job done- Adobe weighs the heaviest among creative applications and the underlying potential for photographers, fine artists of all expressions and predominantly content creators. While there are other alternatives, my confidence lies with Adobe Creative Cloud, which works seamlessly for those multi-niche creators.

Post-production and photo editing have taken me extensive practice over the years to feel I covered every base. If you would like more of my Insights on Post-Production workflows and how I approach this infinite field for the outcome of my photographs:

Ironically speaking, Strict Standards Streetwear has been steering me away from my as a freelance photographer- all while developing my grounds for it further. Vast digital media management and further experience in the core of the business have opened my perspectives from abroad, where I hope throughout my development, I can articulate substantial progress, not solely based on commercial photography, but through business and how services operate.

Caffeine-Equivalent News and Insights.

No foul if you decide to skip your coffee— these Insights are caffeine-equivalent and will perk you up enough themselves. Feel refreshed and with the creative rush as Blake Ferguson unfolds fluff-free perspectives about the ever-changing fields of photography and design, helping you stay fruitful about digital media and among sustainable independent results through in-house marketing.

Post Production & Professional Consistency

Through this session of car photography, I dove deep into some post-production with tonal variations to the core. Previous photo sessions with Cody and his Volkswagen Golf MK6 GTD took place at this location alongside the golden tones demonstrated today. Although, that was with the colour profile of the Sony A300, as for Behn- the Canon EOS60d. After recently acquiring a new camera body, lenses, and overall photography setup- I learned something through experience that still was not exampled in my course of studies.

As Behn wanted a similar outcome for the display of his vehicle, during this photoshoot, the new arsenal was upon me. Learning aspects of myself as an artist still to this day, I acknowledge that my need for consistency through the quality of the artwork has caused me delays in terms of conquering new and moving forward. Regardless, it was not me to have an exact condition between photo sessions, between two different vehicles, and allow the tones to be without sync.

As I conquer more photo sessions across various subjects, mediums, and niches, I aim to organize Lightroom Presets in my Shop for the hobbyist photographers learning the routes. Whether you implement these in your final images or play around with them for hours, these will sharpen your post-production eye and teach you new photo editing techniques. The mechanics of how it came about for me!

Regardless of my consistency through Insights or social media- I never paused the progressive practice as a photographer and graphic designer. While scrolling on Instagram in 2024- especially in the car niche, creatives have amplified. If you are an automotive photographer, you are also a graphic designer.

Given my history of graphic design and my expertise throughout, I found myself intertwining my two cores. While lurking on social media and scouting the playing field, I knew I had to keep the game spiced up with my delivery.

After spending many days between the finalization of this set, followed by the graphic design and art-gallery-inspired Instagram swipes- this set has rekindled my gears into the creative groove. As the set of conceptual concepts remains exclusive to social media, you can find the set and aesthetic swipe on my Instagram. Enjoy one of my favourite conceptual Photoshop edits with Behn and his 2000 Volkswagen Jetta MK4 VR6, representing the Strict Standards Clique. As always- I am forever grateful for the opportunities provided alongside Behn and his custom car project while strengthening my means of photo-editing and automotive photography!

I am proud to claim that automotive photography, management assistance, and graphic design have impacted the Strict Standards Brand- enough so that I have formed an in-depth Case Study. Underlining more of the history of this independent clothing label, as well- the success acquired in unison. If you love the post-production Insights, you can continue through another read via another Strict Standards project!
